For those of you who do not know who Aggee is she has a blog post all her own. It is about how she nearly died as a lamb and how the Aga and my shepherding twitter friends kept me going through the night.
I always work the hardest for the first lambs born as I hope the rest will be easier. At the bottom of this post you can read about Aggee’s early days.
As you can see Aggee doesn’t have any white markings, she is a Zwartbles half breed.
Her Mother is a Suffolk Texel cross what most people here in Ireland would see as a normal commercial sheep. She is all that remain of my old flock of “normal” sheep.
Aggee had many adventures with the boys and loved trying to help out but usually got in the way.
Even the cat shepherd Mr Bodacious had a hand in raising little Aggee.
So back from memory lane and Aggee as a young one. She needed ear tags and as so many people know of her I felt she needed custom made tags so people could spot her for themselves in the field and see that she was alive and well.
I dip my tags in Iodine before I insert them into the ears as I have found this prevents infection.
The first tag in is the one with the traceability micro chip.
Here is Aggee’s first blog post written in the spring of last year.
